NORTH CAROLINA · COASTAL COVERAGE REVIEW
Camden County coastal coverage
Camden’s mainland waterfront offers parks, piers and boat access. This review publishes a coastal overview and eight scoped waterfront references, with no new qualified public beach guide. That does not mean Camden has no beaches or that every shore is closed.
Treasure Point: a waterfront park
The county lists Treasure Point at 123 Treasure Point Road with a pier, nature trail, picnic tables, canoe/kayak launch and restrooms. These are useful waterfront facilities; the facility listing does not establish a named public swimming beach, lifeguard program or accessible route into swimming water.
One Mill Landing and other launches
One Mill Landing’s county listing includes a boat ramp, pier and boardwalk, playground, pavilion, picnic tables, restrooms, canoe/kayak launch and water-access ladder. A ladder is not evidence of a sandy beach or swimming permission. Pavilion reservations require county approval; confirm current visitor terms with the operator.
Sawyers Creek is separately listed as a boat access with 21 parking spaces and a handicap-accessible designation. That designation does not verify a continuous route onto beach sand or into swimming water. Conflicting Highway 343 North/South wording remains a scoped address question.
The reference directory also retains Causeway Park, George M. Wood Memorial Park, Milltown Road River Access, Garrington Island Road Access and the Senior Center Walking Trail as separate dated state observations. Their source names and surveyed amenities do not establish present opening, unrestricted shoreline landings or beach membership.

Historical beach leads still need a lawful arrival
The historical recreational-water station N49 is named “Sound access on SR 1153.” The federal Water Quality Portal retains Camden County metadata and a microbiological period of record of 2003–2014. A historical station location does not establish a current entrance, current monitoring, safe swimming or nonresident public access.
“Camden Beach,” N49/N49A and subdivision shoreline names remain research leads. Walking maps for Texaco Beach, Taylors Beach and Whitehall Shores do not grant public rights across parcels or certify a beach entrance. Exact beach identity, manager, current rules and lawful arrival must be established before a guide or map pin is published.

Proposed facilities and inland recreation
The county’s capital-plan material includes a proposed public beach and protected shallow-water swimming access. A research-stage, unfunded proposal is not an operating beach. The finance link label and cached document year range differ, and the direct download was unavailable during this review; no construction completion or opening date is inferred.
Dismal Swamp and inland lake/pool recreation remain outside this coastal beach inventory. The state dataset labels its Dismal Swamp observation estuarine, but that label alone does not establish a coastal beach. North River Campground’s stocked-lake reference does not establish a coastal guest beach; its owner site was unavailable during review. North River Game Land’s boat/hunting references likewise require exact route and permission evidence before any beach recommendation.

Planning a beach day
Compare the separately researched Currituck County and Dare County beach guides. Mainland Camden waterfront references are not assigned to neighboring Outer Banks beaches. Read each named arrival’s current notices and restrictions; no travel time or current opening is implied.
Research scope and remaining questions
Reviewed October 11, 2026. This is scoped coverage, not an exhaustive shoreline survey or county completeness certification. Seven coastal state observations and the separately county-listed Sawyers Creek boat access are presented; the inland Dismal Swamp observation is excluded.
No Camden reference is a verified positive match for typically clear water, shore snorkeling, nude/clothing-optional or female-topless sunbathing. These questions remain independently unassessed; unassessed does not mean prohibited. Historical water samples, scenery and water color do not establish visibility, current water safety or beach permissions. No neighboring station, flag observation or scenic beach photo has been substituted.
No new beach guide means there is no new beach pin to add. Held shoreline candidates remain research tasks rather than placeholder markers.
