Public or private?

Public access

Who can visit: Open to the general public, including visitors, during permitted hours and subject to posted rules.

Entry route, fees & access boundaries
Manager / access authority
Florida DEP, Division of Recreation and Parks, manages the named state recreation area.
Access basis
This listing covers a publicly managed beach access or park, not a private guest-only beach.
Where to enter
State-park Gulf beach-use areas; bay boat ramp and wilderness tip retain separate routes, no surveyed outer boundary. Use the named public arrival; no neighboring private parcel crossing or outer beach boundary is granted by this guide.
Fees & reservations
See the entrance section for parking and entry details and sources.
Restrictions & exceptions
Stay on signed public crossings, avoid dunes and nesting areas, fill holes and remove trash. Public shore identity does not grant private road or parcel passage.
What this label covers
Named shoreline and supported arrival only; public access is separate from temporary closure.

Beach ownership, the route across land, public shoreline-use rights and access to facilities are separate questions. Rules vary by state and location. Use the identified public entrance or documented permission; neither a nearby resort nor an admission fee by itself establishes that a beach is private. A mapped beach is not permission to cross private property.

Access policy reviewed 2026-10-05. Not a live closure report or a property-boundary survey.

Allowed & prohibited activities

Alcohol: Alcohol is prohibited in park public areas; the park lists an exception for registered campers consuming it within their campsites.

Fires and grills: Any permitted fire or grill areas still need confirmation. Follow the restrictions stated here.

What still needs confirmation

Use only a ranger-authorized grill or designated fire ring. A county beach bonfire rule does not apply as permission inside this state area.

Overnight camping: Use reserved Shady Pines sites, cabins or permitted wilderness sites. Primitive campers must register and arrive at least two hours before sunset; no unrestricted beach overnight entitlement.

Shore fishing: The park identifies Gulf and bay fishing; spearfishing is prohibited. Follow FWC species/season/license rules and keep clear of swimmers and signed nesting zones.
