NORTH CAROLINA · COASTAL COVERAGE REVIEW
Pasquotank County coastal coverage
Pasquotank’s coastal waterfront includes a Coast Guard recreation beach, a separately operated rowing-event shore and Elizabeth City’s parks and launches. This review publishes those conditional beach references and a twelve-record waterfront directory. No new full beach guide or pin is published until its exact visitor arrival and access terms pass review. This is not a finding that the county has no beaches.
A Coast Guard beach for eligible recreation patrons
Coast Guard MWR’s currently linked Elizabeth City lodging brochure lists a beach and swimming, as well as a boat ramp, picnic areas, playgrounds and kayak, canoe and paddle-board rental equipment. This is a military recreation facility, not an unrestricted public walk-in beach. Confirm your eligibility, reservation and gate/guest requirements directly with MWR.
The brochure gives 1664 Weeksville Road and directs lodging visitors to the base’s main gate. Reservations require advance payment and are accepted up to 90 days in advance. These are lodging arrival and booking instructions; they do not establish a beach entrance, public day-use permission or a continuous accessible route to sand or water. The brochure’s year-round season applies to lodging, not a verified beach opening schedule.
The PDF’s embedded metadata dates its creation to May 20, 2025; that is not a current operating-condition check or a beach inspection date. A 2021 Coast Guard article also described a private white-sand beach across from camping and cabins. Present beach restrooms, showers, lifeguards, dog permissions and exact accessible route endpoints still need scoped confirmation.

Bugsy Beach: a separate rowing-event shore
Elizabeth City Rowing Club documents Bugsy Beach at Newbegun Creek as the venue for its September 26, 2026 Bugsy Chase. Its dated event directions identify 809 Airship Drive as the closest address and describe a gravel approach past the red barn. Event parking opened at 6 a.m. and cost $10 per vehicle; these are that event’s terms, not current beach hours or ordinary parking fees.
The event instructions identified designated accessible parking but said there were no paved walkways. That does not establish a continuous accessible shore route. The rowing venue is separate from the Coast Guard Base beach and historical station N51. Confirm any future event admission or guest arrangement with the operator; ordinary walk-in access and swimming permission remain unverified.
Elizabeth City’s public waterfront parks
Waterfront Park at 508 South Water Street has two boat ramps, picnic tables, benches, a pavilion, boardwalk and pier; tourism lists parking for cars and boat trailers. College Park, formerly Dog Corner Park, is separately listed for boating access. The old name is not permission for dogs on a beach.
Charles Creek Park’s tourism listing describes a playground, educational boardwalk and picnic shelter with restrooms. The City’s downtown Coast Guard Park has a gazebo, boardwalk, fishing pier, kayak launch and parking. It is a municipal waterfront park, distinct from the military base’s recreation beach.
Sawmill Park, Weeksville Boardwalk, Moth Boat Park and Veteran’s Park remain individual waterfront references. The City’s boating page explicitly says no swimming at Mariners’ Wharf; that rule is scoped to the wharf and is not transferred to all Pasquotank shores.

Source records and exact-location questions
All fourteen state DCM observations were preserved and reviewed separately. This public directory uses selected current City-listed waterfront references and the separately scoped controlled beach, event shore and Big Flatty Creek boat access. The original state survey dates and historical amenity counts remain separate from current operations.
Some source addresses differ: the City lists downtown Coast Guard Park at 710 Riverside Avenue while DCM records 708; Sawmill and Weeksville also have different current City and older DCM address wording. Consult the responsible operator before travel. A municipal manager name does not establish county jurisdiction: Causeway Park and George M. Wood Park are Camden-side references and retain their existing Camden scope.
Historical N51 metadata identifies a Coast Guard Station estuary monitoring location, with a microbiological record spanning 2003–2014 and an unknown coordinate datum. That is neither a current sample nor a verified beach entrance. The approximate beach planning point has now been independently checked against authoritative orthophotography. It is not an entrance, a navigation waypoint or current access proof. The full guide remains held for exact eligible-visitor and inside-base beach-route confirmation; no base-office, gate or neighboring station pin is substituted.

Keep inland recreation and neighboring beaches separate
Fun Junktion’s ponds and Dismal Swamp recreation are excluded from this coastal beach inventory. A county heading in a boating report does not move Camden sites into Pasquotank or establish a swimming beach. Boating and fishing references do not grant permission to land on other shores.
For separately researched beach arrivals, compare Currituck County and Dare County. Pasquotank waterfront references do not inherit their beach rules, samples, facilities, photographs or map locations.
Research scope and remaining questions
Reviewed October 11, 2026. The supported county overview and twelve scoped references are ready for publication; this is not exhaustive shoreline inventory, county completeness certification or a current beach opening check. The Coast Guard beach’s eligible-visitor and inside-base route questions and Bugsy Beach’s ordinary visitor terms remain actionable follow-ups.
Typical underwater clarity, shore snorkeling, offshore snorkeling, full nudity/clothing-optional use and female-topless sunbathing remain separately assessed questions. No Pasquotank reference is added as a verified positive filter match without beach-specific evidence. Missing permission is not a prohibition; a statewide indecent-exposure rule does not automatically settle female-topless rules at an individual shore. Scenery, water color and historical bacteria samples do not establish visibility or current swimming safety.
No new full beach guide means no new beach pin to add. There is no placeholder beach marker or borrowed scenic photograph. An exact, licensed scenic primary for the Coast Guard beach remains a priority research task.
