Bathtub Reef Beach designated visitor entrance
Use the designated visitor entrance for this named beach. Read the parking, facility and accessible-route evidence below; an inventory marker is not a surveyed route.
Official route / restriction details ↗Parking, route & accessibility evidence
Parking & entry: Choose the signed entrance. Use the signed Bathtub Reef Beach entrance at 1585 SE MacArthur Boulevard. The preserved FDEP point is inventory orientation, not a surveyed crossover or a new route.
Parking source ↗Accessibility: Confirm the exact accessible route. The county offers loan beach wheelchairs at Jensen, Stuart and county Hobe Sound when available through the guards. Confirm availability and the exact parking-to-toilet-to-sand route; the loan program does not establish every crossover as accessible.

Use the directory to check each entrance’s identity and status. Guide map pins are approximate shoreline locations, not turn-by-turn entrance directions or proof of current opening.

Public or private?
Public access
Who can visit: Open to the general public, including visitors, during permitted hours and subject to posted rules.
Entry route, fees & access boundaries
- Manager / access authority
- Martin County manages the named destination. Ocean beach, lagoon facilities, hotel access and neighboring destinations are not interchangeable entrances.
- Access basis
- This listing covers a publicly managed beach access or park, not a private guest-only beach.
- Where to enter
- Martin County and the named official visitor listing support a public visitor destination through designated entrances. Public access is distinct from present opening, protected-area closures and neighboring private parcels.
- Fees & reservations
- The named official listings do not establish an entrance-specific parking charge or pass requirement. Check posted parking instructions; separate rentals, reservations and permits can cost extra.
- Restrictions & exceptions
- Use the signed designated public entrance, protect dunes and marked nests, and follow posted local restrictions. No permission across adjoining private parcels or a new route is created. Dogs must be properly restrained and waste promptly removed. Dogs are prohibited east of the dune line at full-service beaches while guards are on duty, with service-animal and law-enforcement exceptions and the code’s narrow transit exception. Elsewhere in the park, restraint rules still apply; posted restrictions govern. County code keeps public beaches and access strips open at all times except health, safety or welfare closures. This does not establish overnight parking, toilet hours or lifeguard duty; follow posted facility hours.
- What this label covers
- Only the approved named entrance membership; outer boundaries and temporary operating status remain separate.
Beach ownership, the route across land, public shoreline-use rights and access to facilities are separate questions. Rules vary by state and location. Use the identified public entrance or documented permission; neither a nearby resort nor an admission fee by itself establishes that a beach is private. A mapped beach is not permission to cross private property.
Access policy reviewed 2026-10-03. Not a live closure report or a property-boundary survey.
Allowed & prohibited activities
County code limits alcohol to open hours. Pavilions, play areas, athletic areas and parking areas require a county permit; alcohol is prohibited in restrooms. West of the dune line in beach parks, it requires a permit except drinks purchased and consumed on the permanent concession’s premises. These exceptions do not authorize drinking throughout a beach park.

What these results mean
Enterococci are bacteria used to indicate possible fecal contamination. Florida describes 0–35 per 100 mL as Good, 36–70 as Moderate, and 71 or more as Poor. These are periodic laboratory samples, not continuous monitoring.
The Beach Database checks the official report daily, but Florida’s sampling schedule is generally weekly or biweekly. The check time and laboratory sample date are different. Samples more than 14 days old are marked older; that reminder is not an official advisory threshold.
A nearby station is identified by name and distance. Its result is context, not a sample taken at this beach. Testing does not rule out all pathogens, harmful algae, sewage spills or other hazards. Follow current posted advisories and closures.
Crowd meter
Plan around the named entrance and the services you need; no measured beach occupancy or reliable live parking-vacancy series was established. A small access point does not guarantee an empty beach.

Sand & sandcastles
Bathtub’s offshore reef is built by sand-cementing tube worms. Wave energy and seasonal erosion can narrow the beach and affect access.
