County-owned Yorktown Beach beside Water Street and the Riverwalk, southeast of Coleman Bridge
Use the county public sand shoreline beside the Riverwalk and Water Street within the county policy’s footprint. The waterfront contains different owners and rules; the NPS1001 shore, piers and picnic area are separate. Public access is not a certificate of today’s opening or a boundary survey.
Official route / restriction details ↗Parking, route & accessibility evidence
Parking & entry: Public parking · restrictions apply. Use marked public parking and follow current signs. The county parking map states that lower Riverwalk deck parking is limited April 1–September 30 to three hours daily, 7 a.m.–5 p.m., and is not for beach parking on weekends or holidays. The FAQ abbreviates the three-hour rule. Reach the upper deck from Buckner Street; event street closures and federal parking remain separate.
Parking source ↗Accessibility: Seasonal mat and reserved chair. County sources describe a seasonal Mobi-Mat on the sand and a reserved Mobi-Chair through the Dockmaster. The accessibility page specifies warmer-month mat installation; confirm current deployment, the exact mat endpoint and any remaining sand gap. The chair requires an assisting escort and the county FAQ lists two-hour slots,10a.m.–6p.m.; booking hours are not beach hours or a guarantee the equipment is available today.

- What this label covers
- Approximate Yorktown Beach planning point; follow current signs and designated shore access.
Beach ownership, the route across land, public shoreline-use rights and access to facilities are separate questions. Rules vary by state and location. Use the identified public entrance or documented permission; neither a nearby resort nor an admission fee by itself establishes that a beach is private. A mapped beach is not permission to cross private property.
Access policy reviewed 2026-10-21. Not a live closure report or a property-boundary survey.
Allowed & prohibited activities
Alcohol: Alcohol is prohibited on the county beach. Restaurant or event-service licenses do not authorize drinking on the sand. Federal shores have separately stated restrictions.
Fires and grills: The county beach prohibits grills, and the waterfront policy prohibits bonfires. Do not transfer the picnic area’s conditional grill rules to the swimming beach.
Overnight camping: The county beach permits daytime tents but not overnight tents. The waterfront event policy does not authorize overnight beach camping.
Shore fishing: Do not fish from the county beach rocks. The county separately identifies fishing from the NPS picnic shoreline and Yorktown Fishing Pier; its license exemption is for the pier, not every shoreline or beach. Consult the responsible authority for the exact place you intend to fish.

No on-sand weather observation is established. NWS Wakefield supplies York County regional guidance. The retained land forecast is dated forecast information, not a live beach observation; no saved value is labeled current indefinitely.
NWS maps the approximate Yorktown Beach planning point to land forecast grid AKQ80,68, in York County with America/New_York time. The retained response records updateTime October 21,2026 at 09:52:49 UTC, generatedAt 11:30:23 UTC and retrieval 11:30:29 UTC. These separate source clocks are preserved. This is a saved regional land forecast, not a swimming assessment or on-beach observation.
