VIRGINIA COASTAL GUIDES
Northumberland County beaches
Compare named coastal shores and their exact public or conditional arrivals. The guide explains which managing authority, guest conditions and entrance restrictions apply at each location.
START WITH YOUR DAY
Find your fit in Northumberland
2 published guides in this county. Start with dogs allowed (1 qualifying beach), then compare the named entrances. Feature counts describe documented routes, not all beaches or every entrance in the county.
Use the verified route features below to choose where to begin. Counts refer to beaches with a qualifying named entrance, not every entrance. These are planning details, not current opening or guard duty.
Choose the exact shore
Public roads, preserves, privately operated resorts, boat landings and nearby businesses have different permissions. A facility or activity at one is not inherited by another; a booked guest route does not create a free public crossing.

Vir-Mar Beach
A small sandy public beach at the meeting of the tidal Potomac and Chesapeake Bay, with birdwatching and a daytime county beach arrival. Bring your own essentials and plan a toilet stop elsewhere.
Hughlett Point Beach / Natural Area Preserve
An undeveloped Bay beach within a protected landscape of wetlands, dunes and forest, reached along designated walking routes. Parking is limited to the small preserve lot; check current DCR notices. DCR reported no closed sections on October 26, 2026.
Coverage and evidence
These 2 guides do not certify exhaustive county shoreline coverage or today’s opening. Historical access observations and monitoring stations remain separate; planning pins are approximate shore references, not navigation waypoints, surveyed boundaries or permissions.
Exact scenic-photo rights, current seasonal facilities and unresolved named arrivals retain their own follow-up work. Typical clarity, shore snorkeling, offshore excursions, full nudity and female-topless use are independently researched; unsupported features never become positive filter matches.
