NORTH CAROLINA · COASTAL BEACHES
Hyde County beaches
Plan a coastal visit using separately researched named Ocracoke Atlantic and Pamlico Sound shores. Each guide keeps its manager, entrance rules and current-source limits in view.
START WITH YOUR DAY
Find your fit in Hyde County
4 published guides in this county. Start with dogs allowed (3 qualifying beaches) or restrooms (1 qualifying beach), then compare the named entrances. Feature counts describe documented routes, not all beaches or every entrance in the county.
Use the verified route features below to choose where to begin. Counts refer to beaches with a qualifying named entrance, not every entrance. These are planning details, not current opening or guard duty.

Each named beach retains its responsible manager and separately documented arrival. Ocracoke Beach has seasonal summer lifeguards and bathhouse showers. Pony Pen and South Point retain separate approaches and route limitations. Springer’s Point is managed by the Coastal Land Trust, closes Mondays and prohibits vehicle parking, fires, alcohol and camping. Check NPS current ramp directions and resource closures before using South Point.
Use the guide's exact entrance for parking, toilets, rinse facilities, wheelchair arrangements and route endpoints. A wheelchair or boardwalk does not establish continuous access across sand to the water.

Ocracoke Beach
Ocracoke’s NPS day-use Atlantic beach, with a ramped bathhouse, seasonal showers and summer lifeguards. Guarding is Memorial Day weekend–Labor Day, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; this is not an October staffing claim.
Pony Pen Beach
An NPS Atlantic beach access opposite Ocracoke’s pony enclosure, with a boardwalk and separately described accessible-marked parking. The pony pasture is not public beach space, and shifting sand can interrupt the route.
South Point, Ocracoke
Ocracoke’s named southern ocean/inlet beach area, approached by South Point Road and Ramp 72. Access remains subject to exact nesting, weather and route postings; a listed ramp is not a guarantee that the whole tip is open.
Springer’s Point beach
A separately managed Pamlico Sound sand shore reached through a maritime-forest preserve. Open Tuesday–Sunday, 8 a.m.–sunset; closed Mondays. No vehicle parking, fires, alcohol or camping.
Check the local rules and conditions
Dog seasons, parking payment windows, shoreline use and guard coverage must match the selected entrance. North Carolina laboratory samples retain their exact station and sample dates; regional forecasts, tides and observed warning flags are separate evidence.
Typical underwater clarity, shore snorkeling and boat excursions are researched independently. Missing evidence is not a positive feature match.
Research scope and photographs
The October 11, 2026 desk review covers 4 published guides and all required guide categories. It is not an exhaustive shoreline survey, on-site inspection or same-day safety check. Unresolved identities and exact approaches remain in the research queue.
Only exact-location photographs with individually verified reuse rights depict named beaches. Historical scenery does not establish present facilities, access or safety.
