Official route / restriction details ↗Parking, route & accessibility evidence
Parking & entry: Arrange permitted boat transport. Arrange a boat trip and land only on lawful public shoreline, outside private parcels or posted closures. A marina departure is not an ocean-beach entrance.
Parking source ↗Accessibility: Check the usable route and remaining sand gap. The reserve names Keewaydin Island Beach for day use, but supplies no surveyed landing or serviced visitor area. No continuous route to the water is verified; parking ADA labels, ramps and boat boarding do not resolve the remaining sand/transfer gap.

Public access
Who can visit: Open to the general public, including visitors, during permitted hours and subject to posted rules.
Entry route, fees & access boundaries
- Manager / access authority
- Florida DEP / Rookery Bay
- Access basis
- This listing covers a publicly managed beach access or park, not a private guest-only beach.
- Where to enter
- Boat-access public reserve shoreline, subject to private parcels and posted restrictions. This is not an unrestricted roadside entrance.
- Fees & reservations
- No verified shoreline admission fee; transport, marina parking and camping logistics are separate. Confirm the selected departure provider’s price.
- Restrictions & exceptions
- Use lawful public landings only; stay outside private parcels and posted wildlife closures. Reserve day use and designated camping have different rules.
- What this label covers
- Named shoreline and specifically approved arrival only; public access is distinct from temporary closure.
Beach ownership, the route across land, public shoreline-use rights and access to facilities are separate questions. Rules vary by state and location. Use the identified public entrance or documented permission; neither a nearby resort nor an admission fee by itself establishes that a beach is private. A mapped beach is not permission to cross private property.
Access policy reviewed 2026-10-04. Not a live closure report or a property-boundary survey.
Allowed & prohibited activities
Fires and grills: Reserve rules prohibit unattended fires. A designated campsite’s fire rules do not authorize fires elsewhere on the beach.
Overnight camping: Only designated camping sites north of San Marco Road are open year-round unless posted. Camping permission does not apply everywhere on the island.
Shore fishing: Follow FWC fishing regulations and posted reserve closures; protected land does not waive licenses or harvest limits.
- Hours
- Check permitted landing and day-use hours
Day use unless otherwise posted; designated camping follows separate site and seasonal rules.

Official local flag & condition status
Flag color: not currently verified
No timestamped observed flag connector is verified. Coastal Collier surf risk is a regional forecast, not a flag color, boat-landing assessment or current beach opening.
The Beach Database does not convert weather or a rip-current forecast into a colored flag. Check flags and signs on arrival and ask a lifeguard where available.

What these results mean
Enterococci are bacteria used to indicate possible fecal contamination. Florida describes 0–35 per 100 mL as Good, 36–70 as Moderate, and 71 or more as Poor. These are periodic laboratory samples, not continuous monitoring.
The Beach Database checks the official report daily, but Florida’s sampling schedule is generally weekly or biweekly. The check time and laboratory sample date are different. Samples more than 14 days old are marked older; that reminder is not an official advisory threshold.
A nearby station is identified by name and distance. Its result is context, not a sample taken at this beach. Testing does not rule out all pathogens, harmful algae, sewage spills or other hazards. Follow current posted advisories and closures.
Sand & sandcastles
Official tourism describes white sand on this boat-access barrier island; usable landing and shoreline change independently.

Pack a cooler, snacks and water: Hemingway warns that floating food vendors do not visit every day. For a Marco Island departure or return, Snook Inn at 1215 Bald Eagle Drive offers waterfront lunch and dinner. It is a mainland meal option, not an island concession or promised boat stop.
