Parking, route & accessibility evidence

Parking & entry: Read parking & entry details. The public visitor information identifies parking at South and West Third Streets; the City event document also lists West Third/Foundry and the end-of-Third-Street lot. Event overflow/private lots require their own permission and may charge.

Parking source ↗

Accessibility: Read exact route limits. The established riverfront trail is paved and described as flat. That supports a path visit, not a continuous accessible route onto the narrow sand/pebble strip; the exact last steps and remaining sand gap need confirmation.

Admission, payment & passes

Keep ordinary access separate from event, boating and wildlife-area permits. Augustine’s listed boating access is exempt from the Conservation Access Pass; nearby wildlife-area parking is not automatically exempt. Battery Park event fees do not establish an ordinary beach admission charge.

What this label covers
Battery Park is a public city park with a shoreline path and designated parking. Use the park’s established paths and shore edge; the public park does not establish access across adjoining private lots.

Beach ownership, the route across land, public shoreline-use rights and access to facilities are separate questions. Rules vary by state and location. Use the identified public entrance or documented permission; neither a nearby resort nor an admission fee by itself establishes that a beach is private. A mapped beach is not permission to cross private property.

Access policy reviewed 2026-11-06. Not a live closure report or a property-boundary survey.

Allowed & prohibited activities

Alcohol: Battery Park rules require prior approval for alcoholic beverages. Do not interpret a restaurant’s bar service or an event permit as ordinary park alcohol permission.

Fires and grills: Prior approval is required for fires of any kind, including charcoal grills. Do not arrive expecting an ordinary beach-fire or grilling entitlement.

Overnight camping: Do not plan an overnight beach camp. DNREC wildlife-area rules prohibit camping; Battery Park is a dawn-to-dusk park.

Shore fishing: Shore fishing is documented at Augustine Beach and along the Battery Park trail. Follow Delaware fishing-license requirements, posted restrictions and keep casting away from other visitors. An access listing is not a current fish-consumption advisory.
