VIRGINIA · WATERFRONT RESEARCH

Williamsburg waterfront

The City environmental plan identifies Queens Creek, College Creek and specified lower portions of Tutter’s Neck and Paper Mill creeks as tidal water bodies within the city. This is geographic scope, not a grant of shore access.

Plan from the exact source and place

College Landing Park is a City marsh-walkway, fishing and kayak/canoe-launch reference on College Creek. The listed facilities do not establish a named sandy beach.

The City lists College Landing Park as open dawn to dusk and warns that parks or fields may close due to weather. These are published park rules, not a live opening report.

The City College Landing page requires dogs to be leashed and cleaned up after in parks. This does not establish off-leash sand or dog-swimming permission.

Waller Mill Park is situated around a reservoir and lake. Its boating, fishing and park recreation are excluded from coastal beach coverage.

The City water-treatment history says Queens Creek was dammed to create Waller Mill Reservoir. City operation does not make this impounded lake a tidal beach.

DWR identifies the mouth of College Creek in James City County. That mouth and the provider-labelled College Creek Beach lead are not automatically assigned to Williamsburg’s independent-city beach inventory.
