South Florida dog beaches: Hollywood, Haulover and Miami Beach
Start with the permitted sand segment and visit window. These destinations offer distinct dog areas; their permission never extends automatically to the neighboring shoreline.
Our starting recommendation: Hollywood is a useful starting choice for an all-day visit within its designated Pershing-to-Custer dog beach. Haulover adds a county park and dog area, while 21st Street suits a short morning visit in Miami Beach.
Your shortlist
Hollywood Beach
Entrance to investigate: Designated dog beach between Pershing and Custer streets
Choose it for: A longer dog-beach visit within the city-designated segment.
Tradeoff: Permission ends at the dog-zone edges; beach admission and parking charges are separate.
The city identifies only the beach between Pershing and Custer streets for dogs. It lists free dog-beach access daily from sunrise to sunset; this is not a promise of free parking. Carry waste bags, keep the dog under control and use a leash outside the designated zone.
Haulover: dog sand and general parking are different scopes
The county identifies the dog beach between towers 2 and 3, daily sunrise to sunset, reached through lots 3 and 4. Leashes apply outside the designated area. The park lists a separate dog-in-vehicle Bark Park charge alongside standard beach parking; verify the applicable arrival tariff. The northern clothing-optional beach is a separate area.
The city lists the 21st Street beachfront Bark Beach daily, April–October 9–11 a.m. and November–March 7–9 a.m. These are dog-beach hours, not a guard-tower schedule. Choose another plan if your beach day falls outside the permitted window.
Selections are editorial advice. Official rules and dated notices have the narrower scopes described above. Conditions, staffing and surfaces can change; these pages do not guarantee current opening or safety. Photographs show the named beach, not every entrance or today’s condition; credits are in each full guide.
