South Florida beach parking: choose the right lot before the beach

A public beach does not mean free parking or an open space when you arrive. Choose a beach-side lot and read its posted charge; marina, dog-park and boat-launch tariffs serve different visits.

Our starting recommendation: Start with Crandon for a park-based ocean day when you can use its North or South beach lots. Choose Haulover when its location or designated beach area suits you, allowing for peak demand and the correct lot.

Your shortlist

Crandon: Friday starts the higher tariff

The county lists car parking at $7 plus tax Monday–Thursday and $10 plus tax Friday–Sunday. Choose the North or South beach lots; marina hours do not set beach access. Ordinary pets are prohibited, so choose a designated dog beach for that trip.

Haulover: choose the lot and activity together

Standard car parking is listed at $7 Monday–Thursday and $10 weekends/holidays, with an additional $1 for the North Lot/Lot 1. Beach lots open sunrise to one hour before sunset. The Bark Park and marina have separately stated tariffs; do not substitute those for the ocean-beach charge.

Plan for demand rather than a guaranteed space

Haulover identifies summer and holiday Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as peak demand, with possible lot closures. Arriving earlier is editorial planning advice, not a space reservation. Check current signs and closures, and keep a second destination available.
