Brunswick County beaches

Plan a coastal visit using separately researched municipal beaches, island shores and named lawful approaches. Each guide keeps its manager, entrance rules and current-source limits in view.

Find your fit in Brunswick County

9 published guides in this county. Use the named arrival information first; facility evidence is too limited for a feature-based recommendation. 3 guides have boat-only arrival: plan transport and the lawful landing separately. Feature counts describe documented routes, not all beaches or every entrance in the county.

Start with the named arrivals in these guides; route-specific features are still being verified. Counts refer to beaches with a qualifying named entrance, not every entrance. These are planning details, not current opening or guard duty.

Choose a named shore and arrival

Town beaches, the Bird Island Reserve and Bald Head Island have separately scoped rules and routes. An oceanfront address, nearby ramp or transport service does not establish a public crossing or permitted island landing.

Use the guide's exact entrance for parking, toilets, rinse facilities, wheelchair arrangements and route endpoints. A wheelchair or boardwalk does not establish continuous access across sand to the water.

Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is a North Carolina Town beach near the South Carolina border, with public crossovers and a separate walking approach to Bird Island Reserve. Leashed-dog hours, paid parking and chair delivery follow Town rules.

Ocean Isle Beach

Ocean Isle Beach combines a Town ocean strand with designated public walkways, seasonal paid parking and separately managed waterway parks. Check the distinct dog exclusion at public-access and parking areas before choosing an approach.

Holden Beach

Holden Beach is a Town barrier-island shore with CAMA-marked public walkways and private rental paths that remain restricted to authorized users. Quinton has a named handicap approach, and Town swimming is unguarded.

Oak Island Beach

Oak Island offers named public crossovers, entrance-specific toilets and rinse stations, ten documented mat/handicap-assist locations and seasonal mobile Ocean Rescue patrols. Caswell Beach has its own municipal rules.

Caswell Beach

Caswell Beach is a separate Town shore near the Oak Island Lighthouse. The Caswell Beach Road public lot has documented restrooms; its accessible approach and lighthouse parking have distinct scopes.

Bird Island Reserve

Bird Island Reserve is a protected undeveloped barrier-island destination reached by walking west from Sunset Beach 40th Street. Bring supplies: the reserve has no public restrooms or facilities, and collecting natural resources is prohibited.

Bald Head Island West Beach

Bald Head Island West Beach faces the Cape Fear River side of the island and is separately named from South and East Beach. Use marked public crossovers; Green Teal Access 7 is closed for erosion.

Bald Head Island South Beach

Bald Head Island South Beach is an independently named ocean shore reached through marked Village crossovers. Access 24A has a specifically documented accessible approach, with beach chairs separately available first come.

Bald Head Island East Beach

Bald Head Island East Beach is a separately named Atlantic shore. Arrive by booked passenger transport and use marked Village crossovers; Cape Fear River harbor tide references are not exact East Beach timing.

Check the local rules and conditions

Dog seasons, parking payment windows, shoreline use and guard coverage must match the selected entrance. North Carolina laboratory samples retain their exact station and sample dates; regional forecasts, tides and observed warning flags are separate evidence.

Typical underwater clarity, shore snorkeling and boat excursions are researched independently. Missing evidence is not a positive feature match.

Research scope and photographs

The October 9, 2026 desk review covers 9 published guides and all required guide categories. It is not an exhaustive shoreline survey, on-site inspection or same-day safety check. Unresolved identities and exact approaches remain in the research queue.

Only exact-location photographs with individually verified reuse rights depict named beaches. Historical scenery does not establish present facilities, access or safety.
