Beaufort County beaches

Plan a coastal visit using separately researched named Pamlico estuary shores. Each guide keeps its manager, entrance rules and current-source limits in view.

Find your fit in Beaufort County

2 published guides in this county. Use the named arrival information first; facility evidence is too limited for a feature-based recommendation. Feature counts describe documented routes, not all beaches or every entrance in the county.

Start with the named arrivals in these guides; route-specific features are still being verified. Counts refer to beaches with a qualifying named entrance, not every entrance. These are planning details, not current opening or guard duty.

Choose a named shore and arrival

Each named beach retains its responsible manager and separately documented arrival. Goose Creek State Park lists its Swim Beach open while the usual Camp Leach Road entrance has a posted bridge-work detour via Rt. 92/Whitepost. Other day-use gates close one hour before main park hours, and pets are excluded from designated swimming areas. Belhaven Beach amenities are dated November 2023 survey observations; confirm current operation with the Town.

Use the guide's exact entrance for parking, toilets, rinse facilities, wheelchair arrangements and route endpoints. A wheelchair or boardwalk does not establish continuous access across sand to the water.

Goose Creek State Park swim beach

A designated Pamlico River swim beach in a coastal state park, with separate marsh trails and campground facilities. The park website lists the Swim Beach as open, while its main Camp Leach Road entry is posted closed beginning August 24 for Upper Goose Creek bridge work. The alert gives no year or completion date. Follow the posted Rt. 92/Whitepost detour and confirm the route before departure; a web status is not an on-site or safety check.

Belhaven Beach

A municipal estuarine beach listed in the state coastal-access inventory. The state coastal-access survey dated November 16, 2023 records Belhaven Beach at 899 E. Main Street with seven parking spaces, one designated accessible parking space and a restroom. These are dated inventory observations; current operation and restroom hours were not independently confirmed.

Check the local rules and conditions

Dog seasons, parking payment windows, shoreline use and guard coverage must match the selected entrance. North Carolina laboratory samples retain their exact station and sample dates; regional forecasts, tides and observed warning flags are separate evidence.

Typical underwater clarity, shore snorkeling and boat excursions are researched independently. Missing evidence is not a positive feature match.

Research scope and photographs

The October 10, 2026 desk review covers 2 published guides and all required guide categories. It is not an exhaustive shoreline survey, on-site inspection or same-day safety check. Unresolved identities and exact approaches remain in the research queue.

Only exact-location photographs with individually verified reuse rights depict named beaches. Historical scenery does not establish present facilities, access or safety.
