FLORIDA · COASTAL COVERAGE REVIEW

Jefferson County coastline

Jefferson reaches the Gulf, but its coast is marsh and estuary rather than a conventional sandy beach destination. Our review has not identified a confirmed named coastal beach or public beach entrance to recommend here.

What you will find here

DEP’s Jefferson County Coastal Access Guide reports zero sandy beach miles and zero listed public beach accesses. Our October 5, 2026 check of the DEP access inventory also returned zero Jefferson records. These are inventory findings, not a claim that every marsh shoreline is closed to the public.

St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge includes coastal habitat in Jefferson, Wakulla and Taylor counties. A refuge-wide fishing or paddling policy does not identify a usable Jefferson shoreline entrance; check the named route with the refuge before making a coastal fishing or boating plan.

Choose a nearby beach instead

Keaton Beach

A small Gulf beach at Hodges Park. Check the guide’s storm-repair and facility limitations before choosing this arrival.

Hagen’s Cove

A natural Gulf shore in Big Bend Wildlife Management Area, with picnic and wildlife-watching appeal. Read the tidal-shore and route limitations; shallow water is not a swimming-safety guarantee.

Both destinations are in Taylor County. No drive time or live opening status is implied.

Coastal fishing and launch routes

Pinhook and the Aucilla estuary appear in regional coastal sources, but this review did not establish a current, named public shoreline arrival within Jefferson County. We have asked county tourism staff for any overlooked coastal fishing access, marine launch or current route map.

The Aucilla/Mandalay ramp is managed by Taylor County, according to the refuge’s visitor guidance. It is not listed here as a Jefferson beach. Refuge lighthouse and Wakulla Beach arrivals likewise belong to neighboring county coverage.

Use the refuge visitor guidance and maps or Jefferson County tourism office for a location-specific referral. This page does not establish fishing, landing or swimming permission at an unverified shore.

Scope and review

Reviewed October 5, 2026 through published sources and the DEP inventory. No agency reply has yet confirmed a new coastal arrival. Inland lakes, springs and river-swimming destinations are outside this site’s coastal coverage; none have been added to Jefferson’s beach collection.

There are no Jefferson beach cards or matcher options while no qualifying guides are published.
